Rigorous in theory. Grounded in practice. Responsible in action.
WHO WE ARE
BD&P is dedicated to building resilient organisations — and to advancing how this work is understood and applied.
Our work is not organised around services. It is organised around a question:
How can organisations adapt without losing internal alignment?
WHY WE DO THIS
How organisations hold together — how they make decisions, maintain coherence, and evolve — shapes not only their own performance, but the people within them and the contexts in which they operate.
Most organisations that struggle with coherence are not failing. They are evolving faster than their internal architecture can keep pace.
Systemic resilience sits at the edge of what most organisations know how to work with — present in their experience, but rarely named or addressed with precision.
This becomes visible in misalignment, recurring tensions, or change that does not hold — without a language or framework to work with it. At the same time, the theoretical foundations exist, but remain largely disconnected from practice.
BD&P was founded to address this — bringing conceptual clarity into organisational contexts, and grounding theoretical thinking in real situations.
Practice grounds it. Theory sharpens it. Education extends it.
THE PEOPLE
BD&P is carried by people working across organisational practice, systems-theoretical thinking, and academic collaboration.
Team
The team combines organisational practice with long-standing work in systems theory and conceptual development.
Jean Bettingen, Mag. rer. soc. oec., MFA
Founding Partner
Jean Bettingen has worked with systems-theoretical perspectives on organisations since the early 2000s. His diploma thesis examined stagnation in family-led businesses, analysing how organisational structures and decision patterns can limit adaptability.
This line of inquiry continued in his published work, where he applied systems theory to conceptualise abstract phenomena — such as the “system of brands” — in a form that is both scientifically rigorous and practically workable.
Over more than two decades, he worked across entrepreneurial ventures, executive roles, and consulting. Throughout, his focus remained consistent: observing organisational patterns, understanding how decisions translate into structures and action, and identifying where alignment becomes possible.
Christian Dahl, Dr.
Founding Partner
Christian Dahl has worked with systems-theoretical approaches to organisations for over two decades. His doctoral research deepened how systems theory can be applied within organisational development.
Since then, his work has centred on the question of how organisations structure themselves under conditions of complexity — in particular how strategy, governance, and decision-making relate to one another in practice.
A significant part of his work takes place in close dialogue with owners, leadership teams, and governance bodies. It focuses on how responsibility is understood and exercised — not only within the organisation itself, but in relation to the broader systems it is part of.
Academic Board
The academic board contributes an external perspective on the development of our frameworks, diagnostic approaches, and conceptual foundations. It acts as a sparring partner in challenging and refining the conceptual foundations of our work.
Members will be introduced progressively.
